At 150 years old, Mel, Darryl and Roy have a lot of growing
up to do. The time has come for Santa to decide who is going
to take over the reigns of the big sleigh, but it is coming
clear to him that the triplets are more likely to enjoy monkey
business than the family business! So, with the help of Snorkel,
Santa's right hand elf, Santa and Mrs Claus decide to teach
the triplets the true meaning of Christmas. Little does Santa
know that Snorkel plans to overthrow the whole family and
gain Santa status for himself...
The
Santa Claus Brothers
is the perfect stocking filler for anyone who still believes
in the magic of Christmas. The computer animation has a charm
all of its own, with vivid, bright colours and almost childlike
character designs which help to ensure this tale stands out
as a true original.
The
extras on the disc are nothing to write home about - the scene
selection page is set out like an advent calendar, picture
gallery and a quiz that you can attempt after watching the
move. While the quiz is not particularly hard I am still at
a loss to what the surprise we are promised for completing
it is. I thought there may have been a short 'making of' documentary.
But all that seems to happen is that a cracker is pulled on
screen.
This
is a great feel good short film which, unlike some children's
films, will not be watched once and then left on a shelf to
gather dust. This is one of the best animated shorts to emerge
in recent years.
The
Santa Claus Brothers is destined to become a Christmas
classic that will rank alongside Wallace & Gromit
and The Snowman.
