After a few too many drinks and a lot of mutual flirting,
hotshot criminal attorney Callum Crane rapes a new female
employee. Soon after Sophie Lennon is fired by Crane and,
realises she has nothing to loose by threatening to go to
the police. Meanwhile, a young petty criminal discovers that
Crane is his real father and sets out to find him. By the
time the two meet, Crane's determination to save his threatened
career and keep the truth from his wife, propels him into
an act of desperation that has unforeseen consequences...
                  The
                    Guilty
gets off on the right foot with a cracking opening track by
Mansun (Wide Open Space). And from that point on the
movie builds, slowly, to a climatic ending. Along the way
there are plenty of thrills as the production plays with our
                    emotions.
                  One
aspect which I particularly liked is that there is not one
likeable character here at all - or at least none without
series personality defects. ex-cons, cheating wives, unhinged
murderers and crooked, power hungry individuals all come out
of the woodwork. Only Sophie's flatmate seems anywhere near
                    normal.
                  There
is also an excellent cameo appearance by one of The X-File's
Lone Gunmen, Bruce Harwood - who hardly gets to speak before
he is pushed off the set.
                  The
ending is swift and uplifting - considering the ending the
production was setting us up for. Definitely a movie to add
to your 'to see' list. A gripping drama that does not disappoint.
