While on vacation in Australia, Scooby-Doo and the Mystery
Inc gang attend a music festival held at Vampire Rock. But
the music goes flat when the gang learns that a legendary
Australian creature called the Yowie Yahoo is kidnapping the
musical acts and turning them into vampires...
Scooby-Doo
and the Legend of the Vampire is
a new animated feature which fits neatly into the good old
Scooby-Doo mould. No Scrappy-Doo, just the five gang
members on the trail of a spooky ghost.
Casey
Kasem reprises his role as Shaggy but Scooby's voice is not
the same, sadly. Jane
Wiedlin (remember her old hit Rush Hour?) lends her
vocal talents to a couple of the songs as well as playing
one of the characters.
While
adults may get bored easily with the movie, I'm sure that
kids will want to watch it again and again.
The
disc has a nice collection of extras including a rather silly
commentary track with Shaggy, Scooby and Fred and some fun
games for the little ones to play - including the Monster
Factory where you can make your own monster.
The
whole production seems to drag a little and I think that the
original show format of 20 minutes would have been long enough
for this adventure. Not one of the best Scooby-Doo stories
by any stretch of the imagination, but kids will love it all
the same.
