During
a visit to the graveyard, Buffy suddenly feels the urge to
sing. A supernatural power plays a trick upon her and her
friends, as suddenly they all begin to sing and dance. Soon
the whole of Sunnydale is struck by musical fever...
This
is the first time since series one that a single episode of
Buffy has been released to buy. It is a great episode,
but is it worth going out and buying?
For
those Buffy fans that watch the show but don't want
to spend their hard earned cash on a full season, but really
liked this episode, then yes it's worth it. However, if you
are a hard-core fan and want to buy everything Buffy
related, this doesn't really give you anything extra.
The
show is excellent - one of my all time favourites - but it
would have been even better if they had remastered it with
a 5:1 surround soundtrack. You do at least get anamorphic
widescreen, but problem was - on my TV at least it - it seems
a little out of shape with words and heads being cut off screen
- did they get it a little wrong perhaps?
In addition to the actual episode, the disc offers some extras,
but unfortunately I was left expecting more. There's a short
10-15 minute piece entitled Buffy - Inside the Music,
but there's no making of the musical that would be better
placed on this disc rather than on the series six box set.
The other extras seem more like advertising than extras; a
season one overview of Angel, an interview of Dark
Angel star Jessica Alba and a bunch of Buffy
and Angel trailers.
Overall,
this disc is OK. If you're going to go out and buy season
six don't waste your cash on this, however if you really liked
this one show then it might be worth checking out.
