Sid Boggle and his reluctant mate Bernie Lugg hit on the idea
of a nudist camping holiday to spice things up with their
girlfriends! But there's just one small problem... how can
they persuade the girls to spend their holiday naked? But
the fun really starts when Dr. Soaper, headmaster of the Chasyte
Place Finishing School, and his matron, Miss Haggard arrive
with a gaggle of nubile girls. Star pupil Babs catches Sid's
eye and sets the scene for one of the most delightful frolics
in the Carry On repertoire...
Carry
On Camping is
probably the most well known movie in the series. It's cheap,
it's cheerful and the jokes are terrible. But, you can't help
but laugh from beginning to end. The best characters are Terry
Scott's hen-pecked husband, his wife with the annoying laugh,
and Charles Hawtrey's lone camper.
The
execution of this movie is adequate, although nothing too
write home about (Oh! I wish I could have reviewed Carry
On Henry, that last sentence would have been great to
add to the review) although not groundbreaking. And Kenneth
Williams shows a rare sign of heterosexuality as his character
is seen eyeing up the girls as they get on a bus.
Extras
include yet another terrible episode of the Carry On Laughing
TV series (Orgy
and Bess); audio commentary by Dilys Laye and Sandra
Caron; and a photo gallery with captions.
While
nowhere near up to the standard of Carry On Cleo or
Carry On up the Khyber, this is still pretty good fun.
And of course there is the most famous scene of all included
in this movie - the scene where Barbara Windsor's bra shoots
off during an early morning exercise warm-up.
