Carry
on Loving has
a special place in my heart. Not only was it released in the
year I was born (1970), but it is a movie that I watched with
my girlfriend soon after we met (I know how to treat a lady).
While I admit it's not up there with the best Carry On
movies, it is still extremely good entertainment - even if
the food fight ending is a bit of poor conclusion. It's also
a shame that Peter Butterworth and Bernard Bresslaw where
not used more in this movie.
This
special edition release also has a fairly funny episode of
Carry On Laughing included - most of these were very
poor. Under the Round Table is yet another take on
King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. This episode
also made me appreciate what an impressive actor Jack Douglas
is. During his time on the Carry On movies he generally
twitches and makes stupid noises - which always annoyed me.
Yet during the Carry on Laughing series he seems to
be the only actor who can act without hamming it up to the
audience. During Under the Round Table Douglas plays
a part that would normally have been played by Charles Hawtrey
or Kenneth Williams.
Extras
include an interesting audio commentary with Richard O'Callaghan
and Jacki Piper; Photo gallery with captions; Theatrical trailer;
Carry On Laughing: Under The Round Table; and Film
trivia notes.
