On
an express train travelling through pre-World War II Germany,
American heiress Amanda Kelly (Cybill Shepherd) befriends
an old nanny, Miss Froy (Angela Lansbury). But when Miss Froy
disappears, everyone Amanda questions denies having ever seen
her. Eventually Amanda persuades American photographer Robert
Condon (Elliot Gould) to help her search the train, during
which they discover that Miss Froy wasn't quite what she seemed...
Another
remake of a Hitchcock classic, this time with Elliott Gould
and Cybill Shepherd. Good cast, average film, strange idea
for a remake.
Yes,
it keeps up an atmosphere and the acting is always solid but
why anyone would want to remake Hitchcock remains a mystery.
You simply can't top the master and certainly not with Angela
Lansbury in your cast.
