                    Skipper
Jonas Grumby and his first mate, Gilligan, have been providing
a three- hour tour aboard their vessel, the S.S.
                    Minnow.
In September 1964, the Minnow left the Honolulu harbour carrying
five additional passengers. The radio operator accidentally
read out weather reports from the previous day, making no
mention of the approaching tropical storm. Once the Minnow
was at sea, the storm approached and stranded the Minnow on
an uncharted island - one that couldn't be found on any of
                    the Skipper's Navy charts...
                  Gilligan's
Island is something we Brits probably won't appreciate
as much as our American cousins. That's not to say that we
can't enjoy it as much. This
collection does offer great value for money - you get all
36 episodes of the first season as well as the previously
                    unaired pilot.
                  The
pilot is interesting as the cast changed in the time it took
the first episode to be commissioned. Ginger is a lot more
in love with herself - the way she acts you'd think she had
a been a huge Hollywood star before being stranded. Not only
that, but the fact she is constantly flirting with Gilligan
gets a little tired after a while.
                  The
show is made up from your typical stereotypes. The Skipper
and Gilligan represent the workers, the Howell's represent
upper-class society, Ginger is the sexy element, Mary Ann
is the sweet girl-next-door and the professor represents the
                    intellectual element of society.
                  You'll
be ashamed of yourself when you laugh at some of these very
old slapstick gags, but you won't be able to help yourself.
                    This has aged remarkably well.
                  Grab
yourself a glass of coconut milk and settle down with this
                    for some old school humour.
