Ever wondered what happens when two serial killers fall
in love? Joe and Beth are both multiple murders who meet in
a corrupt institute for the criminally insane. Despite these
less-than-romantic surroundings, the two killers develop a
strong bond and fall for one another...
But
when Joe escapes, the staff torture Beth for information.
On the outside, Joe realises that he can't live without Beth,
so he returns to the institute and goes on the rampage, freeing
all the patients. Now free, the couple set out to find a place
to stay and soon discover a farm run by Boley, a believer
in the old, traditional ways. Here, Joe and Beth settle down
and plan to live a life of happiness. But can things really
be this straight forward...?
Maniacts
is a ragtag tale of love and mental patients and what a good
watch it is. With believable performances by the entire cast
and a very funny and entertaining plot, it certainly warrants
a watch.
With
overtones about how mental patients are treated and how even
a maniac can fall in love, this film made me laugh and made
me think too. This is a definite low budget affair with a
few roles given out to some familiar faces.
The gore in the film certainly lends itself to Bad Taste
type splattering and can often surprise. The picture quality
is good with little grain and a DTS track is included on the
disc, but the only extra is a trailer reel.
Great
film, but some extras would have been nice.
