Six perfect strangers are teaming up to pull off the perfect crime. Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Chris Penn, Steve Buscemi, Lawrence Tierney and Michael Madsen are The Reservoir Dogs...

Quentin Tarantino's shocking and violent film, Reservoir Dogs, created much controversy in 1992 when it was first released and now it is back, after 12 years, in a 2 disc special edition.

Having watched this film time and time again I never grow bored of it, so when a copy of this new special edition landed on my doorstep for me to review I couldn't wait to get started. Of course, I went straight for disc two as this contains all of the extra's.

"So, what is there on the second disc?" I hear you asking. Well there are the original interviews with: Chris Penn, Kirk Baltz, Michael Madsen, Lawrence Bender, Tim Roth and Quentin Tarantino. These are all quite quirky, especially with titles such as: "An interview in the back of a truck with Chris Penn." Then there are the deleted scenes, two of which are different versions of the cutting the ear off scene.

Then we move onto extra's such as, An introduction to Film Noir: Writers and filmmakers, Class of '92 interviews and Sundance Institutions Film-makers Lab; Tributes and Dedications and finally a short feature called, Securing the Shot - Location Scouting with Billy Fox. I found these extra's quite tedious after the first few minutes.

Alongside the movie, on disc one, there are also film commentary with writer/director Quentin Tarantino, producer Lawrence Bender and selected cast and crew. This disc also includes the trailer.

This release is being released in various collectable box sets. Each of the main characters (Mr Orange, Mr Pink etc) has there own special packaging, or you can buy the pack with all of the main characters on the front (as illustrated above). A little pointless, but you know that some nutter out there will have to buy each edition.

If you've already bought the DVD when it was released a few years ago, then I really wouldn't recommend this edition - the extras are not all that special. And if you haven't bought this movie yet, you might be better advised to search out the original release (which is sure to be a lot cheaper). It's still a fantastic movie though.
