Forced to retire at 60, Victor Meldrew ensures that life at
home is anything but quiet. Floundering for a purpose in life,
whilst his wife Margaret remains at work, Victor makes it
his business to rectify the daily injustices he must face.
After getting stuck in a shed for three hours, painting nudes
and fighting an invasion of bees, life in retirement proves
to be remarkably busy...
I
don't believe it! The first series of One Foot in the Grave
is finally available to own on DVD. And it's about time too.
Anyone
unfamiliar with the antics of grumpy old Victor Meldrew and
his suffering wife Margaret (anyone who has been living in
a cave on Mars for the last 15 years), or those that didn't
get around to buying the first series on video when it was
originally released, should really pick this up.
The
first series features many classic moments, including the
frozen cat, the Meldrews getting stuck in their garden shed
when a swarm of bees engulf them, and Victor falling asleep
in the garden and awakening as a fog descends - convinced
he's died and gone to Heaven.
There
is also one extra, a twelve minute look at the series with
interviews with all of the major stars, as well as a number
of the shows guest stars.
While
the lack of any real extras mean that this collection may
not be worth buying if you already have the video box set,
this is still British comedy at its finest.
