They're two revolting, sad pervies... Richie Rich and Eddie
Hitler return in their anarchic black comedy series that revolves
around the subculture lifestyles of two repellent flatmates.
Living in a grubby flat with only a worn out TV for entertainment,
they only seek to enjoy themselves. However, for these two
no-hopers, even a trip to the fairground or the local pub
                    ends in disaster...
                  As
Richard Richard, Rik Mayall's sweaty visage was always bad
enough on broadcast TV or VHS, but now, on DVD, every bead
of perspiration is visible with the release of Bottom,
series two. Such is the manic thrust the actor puts into the
role of greasy-haired loser and friend to pointless drunk,
Edward Hitler (played by Adrian Edmondson).

For those who enjoy violent slapstick, loud swearing and the
worst kind of politically-incorrect immature humour, Bottom
will more than satisfy. Thankfully, the quality of jokes,
clever situation-comedy and high production values serve to
save the show from being dismissed as mere dross.
                  Highlights
of series two are Digger, Burglary, Culture
and Holy, as Bottom was always most effective
when Mayall and Edmondson played off one other. Parade
is the weakest of the series, due to Mayall's hogging of the
limelight. Without the counterbalance of Edmondson, Mayall's
over the top performance becomes slightly unbearable.
                  Viewers
of The Bill will be amazed to see a much younger, and
very different looking Lisa Maxwell (who plays Samantha Nixon
in the police soap) making a brief appearance in Digger,
and fans of Red Dwarf will enjoy Robert Llewellyn's
guest spot in Parade. Christopher Ryan, who played
Mike in The Young Ones, makes occasional appearances
as Dave Hedgehog, although disappointingly his presence adds
little to proceedings. There are many other appearances by
actors who went on to greater fame - which adds an additional
quality of enjoyment to this release as you see if you can
                    spot them all.

Bottom Fluff makes up the extras. Here you will find
a number of out-takes that mainly feature Mayall fluffing
his lines, but Edmondson puts in his fair share. Needless
to say, the mistakes are just as funny as the actual episodes.
There are also some deleted scenes, but the ones taken from
Holy have already been restored to the episode in this
release, making their inclusion here somewhat irrelevant.
