                    When their parents divorce, Michael and Sam Emerson move with
                    their mother to their grandfather's house in a California
                    town nicknamed "The Murder Capital of the World."
                    Soon after arriving, Michael gets involved with a hell-raising
                    motorcycle gang of vampires with a charismatic leader. When
                    Sam becomes involved with he Frog brothers, who confess to
                    being undercover vampire hunters, he realises it's up to them
                    to save Michael and the rest of the town from the vampire
                    gang...
                  The
                    Lost Boys is
                    one of those movies that still holds a special place in my
                    heart. With this film, director Joel Schumacher redefined
                    the vampire genre, and it also won the 1988 Saturn Award for
                    'best horror film'.
                  The
                    predominantly teen cast all put in first rate performances,
                    and it is a credit to the production that they managed to
                    pull out all the stops, especially as there was very little
                    budget. Schumacher's vision is not just a horror movie, there
                    are plenty of laughs, and he really shows vampires as a sexy,
                    fun loving breed.
                  This
                    special edition two-disc collection not only features a new
                    widescreen digital transfer and Dolby 5.1 sound, it also includes
                    a number of added features. These include an audio commentary
                    by Schumacher; The Lost Boys: A Retrospective (24 mins)
                    - a series of new interviews with the director and cast members;
                    Inside the Vampire's Cave (18 mins)- an expansion on
                    the Retrospective feature; Vamping Out: The Undead Creations
                    of Greg Cannom, Oscar winning make-up artist (14 mins);
                    An interview with the two Coreys; 15 minutes of deleted scenes;
                    a multi-angle video commentary on a section of the movie with
                    Corey Haim, Corey Feldman and Jameson Newlander; Lost in
                    the Shadows music video; and theatrical trailer.
                  There
                    seemed to be a problem with one of the menu pages for the
                    extras on the second DVD. For some reason the features don't
                    highlight when you attempt to select them, so it is very much
                    trial and error on which feature you are selecting.
                  This
                    movie is still as impressive as the first time I saw this,
                    almost 20 years ago. Whether you're a fan of The Lost Boys,
                    or have never seen it... this is a collection well worth buying.
