This
is the story of Master Shake, Frylock and Meatwad: teens who
live together, unsupervised, somewhere near the Jersey shore.
Carl, their next door neighbour, has an aboveground pool and
an attitude. This is also the story of mysteries, neighbourhood
conflicts, aliens, mad scientists, wigs, psychotic cyborg
clowns, and a monstrous spider with a terrifying secret...
The
third collection of Aqua Teen Hunger Force revolve
around Master Shakes, a giant cardboard cup filled with milkshake,
Frylock, a giant cardboard French fries container, and Meatwad,
a large lump of meat.
If
you've seen any of these 10 minute animated episodes, then
you'll know what you're letting yourself in for. If you've
never experienced this show before, you might be left scratching
your head. However, watch a few episodes, and you'll soon
understand why this crazy, mixed up series is so popular.
Each
episode opens with a brief look at what is happening at Doctor
Weird's laboratory. Here the evil doctor and his assistant,
Steve, devise cunning ways to take over humanity. These intros
have nothing to do with the main show, and the Hunger Force
never meet Doctor Weird (although they do occasionally meet
his inventions) but the openings are still fantastically funny
- for the most part.
There
are so many quality moments in this series that it is difficult
to know where to begin. Some of my favourite moments include:
a Sesame Street spoof which explains to kids the difference
between left and right. And then, when it gets that message
across it informs all the tots that they will die; Carl buying
a wig and then pulling a prostitute; Master Shakes filling
the house with land mines; Meatwad's birthday party guests
(an apple, a toilet roll tube and a box) and the timid monster
spider who is harbouring a secret.
Extras
on this two disc collection are okay, but I doubt you'll be
watching them more than once - if at all. These include deleted
scenes; audio commentaries; a look at how an episode gets
written; a music karaoke video of Shakes's new Happy Birthday
song; and some answer machine messages that you can put on
your own telephone answering machine.
If
you only buy one animated DVD about talking fast food characters
make sure it's an Aqua Teen Hunger Force DVD.
