Tom
Sawyer and his pal Huckleberry Finn make their way down the
Mississippi river in this timeless children's classic which
sees them embark on a series of adventures including making
friends with the cheeky Becky Thatcher and avoiding Aunt Polly.
But things turn serious when one of their friends could get
into trouble if they don't tell the truth about what they
have seen...
This
2000 animated adaptation of the famous Tom Sawyer story
takes all your favourite characters and changes them into
animals. This
works pretty well and, as a children's tale, should be well
received.
The
opening scene threw me a little. It looked trippy and the
animation was a little odd and I was starting to think that
it was going to be a very poor production. Thankfully this
scene is just a dream sequence with Tom imaging many different
adventures.
It's
bright, colourful and fun. It's also packed to bursting with
songs - while
I'm not a country song kinda gal, I have to admit that a lot
of the music in this movie was pretty catchy.
In
short, this is a pretty entertaining offering from MGM.
