Using a simple editor, players can let their imaginations
run wild and build their own crazy tracks, modifying them
block-by-block, to create complex and spectacular race circuits.
Then, when the tracks are completed, players can test their
creations in real-time, and experience all the fun and excitement
of high-speed racing...
I
suppose you could compare TrackMania to a computerised
version of Scalextrix - only cheaper, easier to construct
and much, much more fun. In fact, it's probably the equivalent
of a rollercoaster/Scalextrix hybrid.
What's
really cool about this game, when compared to other race games,
is that racing isn't really the point at all. Building whacky
course with cool, overly long, ramps and twisting track is
the order of the day.
This
release also comes complete with the Power Up! Expansion
Pack. This allows you to construct underground tunnels
as well playing the new survival solo mode game.
The
only real problem with this game was the in-game sound and
music. It could have been a lot better - you're probably better
advised to stick in a decent CD in your stereo and playing
that instead. Also a few more cars would have added greatly
to the gaming experience.
What
other race game allows you to construct your own circuits?
One
thousand times better than digging your old Scalextrix set
out from the loft.
