Fight pirates, explore Neverland, see mermaids and do so
much more in this action game based on the Universal Studios
motion picture event, Peter Pan. Relive the classic
story with Peter, Wendy, John, Michael and Tinker Bell as
they journey from London to Neverland and face the dreadful
                    Captain Hook...
                  Peter
Pan: The Motion Picture Event has
all the hallmarks of a classic story - hell, it is a classic
tale. So, at least you know that the plot is going to be good.
But the big question is whether the game developer's have
remained faithful to this tale and, if so, whether they have
designed gameplay and graphics to complement it.
                  You
start off as Peter Pan and must chase after your shadow. Now
I may be getting a little old, but I only managed to catch
my shadow by accident. There is a very simple solution - if
you look at the screen and work out how to trap it, but I'm
obviously getting slower the older I get.
                  You
then move on to confront Captain Hook and his crew - beware
of those huge cannonballs. So far, so good, but there is nothing
deeply exciting or impressive about the early levels - apart
from the inclusion of photo-realistic images of the characters
from the movie. These images only appear as the characters
give you information on what is happening in the game. The
graphics of the characters that you control are pretty well
detailed, considering just how small they are.
                  As
the game progresses, there are more challenges and some pretty
nice set pieces, but ultimately these are too few and far
between to really get excited about.
                  While
this is a very playable game, it will only really appeal to
the very young gamers out there - or the ones who have never
                    grown up.
