Someone has brought the costumes of Scooby's greatest villains
to life and now they're threatening all of Coolsville. Can
you help Scooby and the gang solve the mystery before their
hometown and their reputation are wrecked?...
Here's
the biggest mystery of all: Why is it that there has not been
a single Scooby-Doo game released that is any good?
I've played several games based on this franchise (Classic
Creep Capers, Cyber Chase, Night of 100 Frights and Mystery
Mayhem to name just four) and they have all been huge
disappointments.
It's
not as though game developers have to spend months creating
new characters and environments - we all know the members
of Mystery Inc. And a plot can be borrowed from the basic
story line of every Scooby cartoon mystery. Yet still
we are given dull platform games which offer nothing new.
Monsters
Unleashed is based loosely on the new movie, and yet still
we are given a run-of-the-mill platform game. Change the characters
and this could be any second rate game. In fact, it was a
real struggle to keep playing past the first few levels.
There
are a number of mini-games which are fun to play. My favourite
sees you control the Mystery Machine, driving around the streets
with a Pterodactyl in hot pursuit. It looks a lot like the
old style Grand Theft Auto (1 or 2), only not as much
fun. But these mini-games still don't detract from a poorly
designed main game.
Instead
of buying this, I'd spend your money on buying videos of the
original cartoon series. You'll get a lot more satisfaction.
