In the far distant past the legendary Warriors of Light defeated
the Forces of Darkness, and since then the whole world has
been living in a state of peace. However, changes are slowly
affecting the lands. Droughts, storms and hideous monsters
have filled the world with despair. There is only one warrior
out there who has enough power to defeat the evil beast, save
the world and restore harmony. And in a desperate bid to find
him, the King launches a combat tournament and you are invited
to take part...
The
biggest problem with Shining Soul 2 is the long and
boring dialogue screens at the start of the game. But, once
the game begins proper, you are in for a treat.
The
game looks and plays a lot like Zelda and sees a huge
leap forward in graphics and animation over the first instalment.
Many of the problems with the first instalment have been fixed.
Enemies don't run straight at you when you have your weapon
drawn and the animation of the characters are vastly improved.
In addition, there is more variety to the dungeon screens.
In short, this is everything that the first game should have
been.
The
poor item management problems have not been resolved, unfortunately.
But, to be honest once you get used to it, it's not too much
of a hindrance.
But
where this game really shines is in the four player co-operative
mode. Get yourself a link cable, invite some friends around,
and have the time of your life.
