If you are looking for furious arcade action, simple, focussed
and fast, this could be the game you've been waiting for.
No plot, no story, no friends: just blast or be blasted...
Mastertronic's
budget range of classic games under the PC Gamer Presents
banner is a stroke of genius. Now you can purchase some
of the best games of the last few years. Only games which
received an 80+ score out of 100 in PC Gamer magazine
are considered for this range - so you know the quality is
going to be spot on. Not only that but at under £10
games have not been this cheap since the days of the 48K Spectrum.
Space
Tripper harks back to the '80s arcade style of games that
were cutting edge for their day. It's fun, it's frantic, but
it isn't rocket science. If you are looking for a good old
fashioned shoot 'em up with no fancy cut sequences, and stretched
to the limit plots - you just want to get on with the killing
- then this is worth a look.
For
those of you who think Pac-Man, Space Invaders
and Donkey Kong should stay in the past, then this
is not really going to appeal to you.
Not
a bad game at all - although what PC Gamer was doing giving
it 92% when it originally reviewed it is anyone's guess.
A
good solid game that will help pass a lazy Sunday afternoon,
just don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.
