Fight on any side in the escalating galactic star wars. Select
one of a number of different soldier types, jump into any
vehicle, man any turret on the battlefront and conquer the
galaxy planet-by-planet on-line with friends or off-line in
a variety of single player modes...
                  Star
Wars: Battlefront is an action/shooter game that gives
fans and gamers the opportunity to relive and participate
in the classic Star Wars battles on any side.
                  The
history of Star Wars games is a rocky one. You never
know whether you are going to end up with a stinker or competent
offering. Thankfully Battlefront slips into the later
                    category.
                  So
how does it all work then? Well, first you pick a battle,
then you are given the option of which sides you want to fight
for - these include members of the Rebel Alliance, the Galactic
Empire, the Republic Clone Army, or Separatist Battle Droids.
Then choose a planet and fight in a bid to win as many zones
from the opposition, while keeping those you've won free from
                    invasion.
                  Along
the way the game is enhanced by the ability to take control
of Star Wars vehicles - there are over 30 including
AT-AT's X-wings and snowspeeders - and the different weapons
and abilities of each very different soldiers. The graphics
and music all look and sound the business, but the gameplay
can be a little annoying at times.
                  While
there are enough single campaigns to keep you occupied for
a while (instant action, galactic conquest and the story-based
historical modes) this game really shines through in the numerous
online campaigns. In fact if you are buying this expecting
to play alone (off-line) then you may be a little disappointed.
                  Also,
you might like to wait a while before spending your money.
Personally I'd hang on until a few patches are available to
download. Yes, this game seems to be a victim of "Quick
rush it the shelves! What? It's not fully ready yet? It doesn't
matter we can fix it latter!" There are a few too many
nasty little bugs lurking - ones that should not have gotten
                    past the testers.
                  Yes,
there are much better games on the market, but Star Wars
fans will love the opportunity to play so many very cool
                    campaigns.
