Everything that's gone before was just training. Now you get
the chance to combine fighting and flying in wide open, destructible
3D environments. In the air, on the ground or under water,
the latest addition to the Dragon Ball Z series gives
players the ability to battle with unprecedented power and
freedom. Experience the intensity of DBZ fighting in
an all-new way by combining melee combat, energy attacks and
3D flight with fully interactive recreation of the Dragon
Ball universe. With its intense battles, high-speed flight
and deep storyline...
Budokai
- Tenkaichi is
the fourth game in the Dragon Ball Z series to hit
the PS2. Fans of the franchise are in for a bit of a treat,
as the graphics and gameplay have been seriously improved.
Now
you can battle across some beautiful 3D arenas, in the air
or on the ground.
Before
you start trying to kick some serious butt, it's worth getting
used to the controls, courtesy of the training session. This
will give you a run down on the basics, as well as letting
you practice against either a still or very active computer
opponent. The first time you try this, you'll be excused for
spending more time with your face in the dirt. Tenkaichi
is fast and furious, and will certainly punish those with
slow responses.
Once
into the game proper, you have the option of playing in a
number of modes. There's the story mode, tournament, Vs.,
and a level where you are pitted against 100 opponents.
The
story mode is, as you'd expect, the main game, but the mode
where you have to fight 100 opponents is great fun too. In
this mode you have to fight an opponent, and if you win you
rise up a level and take on the next challenger. You keep
on doing this until you've beaten all your opponents - if
you beat them you gain a point, if they beat you, you lose
points. The idea is to get to the end of the mode with as
many points as possible - no easy feat.
Those
that like their fix of Dragon Ball Z will love this
game, the animation is slick, the graphics are great and the
gameplay is spot on.
