Considered by many to be the best chess-playing program available,
even Grandmaster Gary Kasparov uses the internationally renowned
Fritz for practise and analysis of his game. But the
beauty of the constantly evolving Fritz Chess is that
it doesn't matter if you can hold your own against a Grandmaster
or you've never played chess before because this game is the
perfect coach for you. For instance, a 'position tutor' is
available which explains the current situation to you in plain
English. This completely updated 9th version of Fritz
Chess also brings with it a wealth of new features...
                  "How
on earth can this be the ninth in a series?" I hear you
cry. "Chess is Chess! And you can get so many good programs
for free these days. Why would I want to spend £35 on
                    a chess game?"
                  That's
a very good question, but the Fritz Chess series isn't
just any old chess software. Personally, I've owned quite
a few cheap chess packages, but one of my favourite - in fact
the program I still regularly play - is Fritz Chess 8.
                  Whether
you've never even touched a chess piece before, or fancy yourself
as the next Gary Kasparov, there is something here for you.
                  This
new release features a improved and more powerful knowledge
based chess engine; a one hour tutorial of how to play chess
                    - ranging from beginner's guide to lessons for advanced players;
a new 3D chess set that features the celebrated mechanical
chess machine The Turk; and a year's subscription to www.playchess.com
                    which is worth over £20.
                  So,
if you've already bought a previous Fritz game, should
you buy this? Again, it depends on the individual. Personally,
I would buy this. But, if you are not so passionate about
the great game, then you might like to pick up Fritz Chess
8 when stores start to reduce the price to make way for
                    Fritz 9.
                  If
you are serious about chess then this is the game for you.
