The hunt for a serial killer has never been so terrifyingly real as you take on the role of Ethan Thomas, an FBI agent investigating a chilling series of serial murders. As Ethan you trail a savage killer through tense and detailed urban environments, becoming accused of the very crimes you are struggling to solve turning from the hunter to the hunted...

Condemned is an unnerving psychological horror, where players must rely on their own sharp instincts and a collection of sophisticated forensic tools to help them investigate crime scenes, collect evidence, and find clues that will inevitably lead them to the killer. It's a bit like CSI meets Resident Evil (in that you'll get creeped out as much as the first time you played Resident Evil)

With danger looming in every shadow, quick thinking will be needed to keep Ethan alive. By scavenging from the environment, players are able to choose between an array of close combat weapons such as the fire axe, shovel or crow bar - only by using the right weapon at the right time can Ethan hope to survive the vicious onslaught from his possessed attackers. But it's not just obvious objects you can use against your attackers. At a push, a mannequin's arm comes in handy as an affective weapon to slap your assailants with. There are so many improvised weapons awaiting you that you'll never ceased to be amazed at how ingenious your environment is used.

There are a few ballistic weapons scattered around, but not many. And those that you do find have very limited ammunition. It's wise to use these sparingly, and get in close for the kill whenever possible.

While fighting is the main part of the game, collecting evidence and analysing it is an important component of your success. Keeping in contact (via PDA) with Rosa, in the lab, is essential - as she'll be processing all the evidence you send her.

As a launch title they don't come much more atmospheric than this. The graphics and sound are some of the best I've seen in a game of this style. And you'll need a spare pair of underpants - this is one scary game you won't want to play alone, with the light off.
