Nicole Kidman stars as widowed Anna who receives a visit ten
years after her husband's death from ten year old Sean who
tells her the chilling news: "You're my wife"...
The
soundtrack to Birth is as beautifully simple as the
movie's premise. There are a few ongoing themes which pepper
this album - all of which are beautiful and some of which
are incredibly haunting.
Composer
Alexandre Desplat has had a prolific career in his native
France, but has been involved with very few English speaking
movies - something that will hopefully soon be rectified.
While
the movie itself is nothing special - good but not great -
the soundtrack is pretty enjoyable. This album might not be
ideal to relax to it should appeal to soundtrack fans who
are looking for that something a little different.
Hopefully
this album will help kick-start Desplat's career outside of
French cinema as his work shines through as the best thing
about this movie.
